Bounding down the gym’s stairway and hurrying through a lonely hallway, I stopped mid-step, as if bumping into the force field surrounding what lie on the floor. My own shadow on the walls and reflection in the glass of the exit door startled me.
I walked outside eating a banana. The grass around the house is Spring green and grows taller everyday. The weather hasn’t often been like today’s, so feeling sunlight kisses and a warm breeze made me happy.
Do you love me?
Do you need me?
This year’s Valentine’s Day didn’t involve a date but a new look.
My boyfriend and I broke up on November 30th. I mentioned him on the blog regularly, and life’s been lonelier without him. I miss the little details of him most, such as how he moved in the morning after waking up; the way his voice softened when slipping into slumber; the way his voice cracked when startled or scared, or the way it deepened in a laugh that lit his face up with fireworks. I miss how he always wanted to snuggle, even on stuffy summer nights or during my one-sided feuds over a silly grudge; how hard working and willing to help he was, and even how he slacked off and I ordered him around. I miss how honest and humble we kept each other.
Among all the hope and happiness, January 30th marked a devastating goodbye.
Who doesn’t like sandwiches? For a long time I didn’t, but all it takes it getting the right ingredients together. 😉 For this breakfast-sandwich-inspired dish, the bacon flavor comes from the whole grain bread, Vegemite, and onion, while the egg is substituted for avocado. Every ingredient plays a part to make this a tasty and healthy morning start. Eat it with a glass of almond milk and piece of fruit (I recommend a grapefruit or orange). Enjoy!
